StockOps (Stocks and Options) is a full-stack investment portfolio management platform designed to help investors manage, analyze, and monitor stock and options positions from a centralized application. The platform supports stocks, covered calls, and cash-secured puts, providing portfolio management, transaction processing, P&L analytics, break-even and annualized return calculations, historical performance tracking, interactive dashboards, watchlists, and financial calculators. The frontend is built with Next.js 14, React, TypeScript, and the App Router, using TanStack React Query for server-state management and caching, Chakra UI, NextUI, Tailwind CSS, Formik/Yup, and Recharts/Lightweight Charts for interactive data visualization. It communicates with the backend through a REST API layer using Axios, with cookie-based JWT authentication, middleware-based route protection, query/mutation abstractions, and cache invalidation to keep portfolio data synchronized. The application also integrates Stripe-based subscription management, CSV transaction exports, responsive dashboards, and parallel routes for portfolio-specific views. The backend is implemented in Java and Spring Boot using a modular microservices architecture. Spring Cloud Gateway provides a centralized API entry point and JWT validation layer, while dedicated services handle user identity, portfolio management, and stock/options transaction processing. PostgreSQL provides persistent storage, while Redis and Polygon.io are used for market-data ingestion and messaging infrastructure. The transaction and portfolio services use gRPC for portfolio-value synchronization, while REST is used for conventional service communication and data retrieval. The system is containerized with Docker and orchestrated through Docker Compose, with a shared service network and PostgreSQL infrastructure. A key focus of the platform is reliable financial computation, with portfolio and options calculations implemented using `BigDecimal` and explicit rounding to maintain numerical precision. Overall, the project demonstrates full-stack development across a modern React/Next.js frontend and Java/Spring Boot microservices backend, including distributed service architecture, authentication, financial domain logic, data visualization, inter-service communication, external market-data integration, and containerized deployment.
